There are many jobs at Northern Hills which allow volunteers to help the entire
school! These jobs are great ways to get to know faculty and other parents. Get involved by e-mailing one of the PTO teams listed below!
HOSPITALITY

The Northern Hills Hospitality Committee hosts delicious breakfasts and luncheons for our dedicated educators. This committee also loves to surprise our staff with little
treats throughout the year. As a hospitality helper, you would assist with bringing food for the breakfasts and luncheons, as well as,
assist with the Teacher Appreciation Week festivities in May.
CUT, COLOR, & COPY WORKROOM

Schedule: Cut Color Copy Volunteers
 
The Cut, Color, & Copy volunteers assist in preparing classroom materials and projects for our teachers.
We make copies, prepare packets, cut die-cuts, etc.
Shifts 30 minutes to 2 hours, as you are able.
You can choose morning or afternoon shifts every week, every other week, or once a month. Scheduling is extremely flexible.
MEDIA CENTER

Schedule: Media Center Volunteers
 
Media Center volunteers check books in and out, restock library shelves, and help students make their book selections. There will be two
parent workers during each shift. Shifts are offered on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th weeks or 2nd and 4th weeks of the month. Morning shifts are from
8:30 – 11:30 and afternoon shifts from 12:00 – 3:00. This position is a lot of fun! Our parent volunteers have a great time interacting with the
kids and hearing all their “tall tales” about the books they’ve picked out. It’s also a terrific way to meet other parents at the school.
{Half shifts are available to our parents with Preschool & Kindergarten aged students who cannot cover
a full shift due to pickup and drop off times.
WELCOME CENTER

Schedule: Welcome Center Volunteers
 
The Welcome Center is always looking for a friendly face to help with greeting all the students and visitors at our school. The Welcome Center volunteers
work alongside the office staff in checking students in and out of school. They also assist the office staff, administration, and Cut, Color, & Copy
workers with tasks and special projects. This position allows our parents the wonderful opportunity to get to know the school’s secretaries and
administrators better. Volunteers have the choice to work weekly, biweekly, or monthly. There are three different shifts available during the day…
Morning (8:30 – 10:45) Lunch (10:45-1:00) and Afternoon (1:00-3:05). {Half shifts are also available to our parents with Preschool & Kindergarten
aged students who are not able to cover a full shift due to pickup and drop off times.
LANDSCAPE & CAMPUS IMPROVEMENTS

This committee helps maintain and improve our campus grounds. Committee members perform weeding and trash control throughout the year. Then at our Fall and Spring work days – the whole school is asked to
help with planting, trimming, mulching, painting, and any needed playground refurbishing. Aside from the specific campus work days, the volunteer
schedule is flexible and can meet an individual’s needs. Please come join our crew and help keep our amazing grounds and campus looking its best!!
PUP PAL READERS

Pup Pal Readers spend 30 minutes once a week, or every other week, reading with a student.
There are no special skills required to become a part of this program.
Our Pup Pals are students who need a little extra encouragement to build their reading skills.…
All reading sessions are done during school hours according to your available schedule.
While a majority of our readers come from our parents, we also love to have our grandparents
and other community volunteers.
SAFETY PATROL

Schedule: Safety Patrol Teams
Safety Patrol is comprised of 5th graders who assist our younger children during drop off and pickup times.
Safety Patrol students are honorary ambassadors to the school, and they will be trained to perform specific duties both before and after school. Students are
grouped into teams which serve several one-week shifts throughout the school year. They must be able to arrive at school by 8:00 and stay until 3:20.
