There are many jobs at Northern Hills which allow volunteers to help the entire school! These jobs are great ways to get to know faculty and other parents. Get involved by e-mailing one of the PTO teams listed below!

HOSPITALITY
E-mail: hospitality@northernhillspto.net

The Northern Hills Hospitality Committee has such a great time showing our teachers and staff how much we appreciate all their hard work! They love to pamper our dedicated educators by hosting delicious breakfasts and luncheons. This committee also loves to surprise our wonderful staff with little treats and encouragements throughout the year. As a hospitality helper, you would assist with bringing food for the breakfasts and luncheons, as well as, assist with the Teacher Appreciation Week festivities in May. If you would like to become a part of this fun-loving committee, please contact your Hospitality Chairman today!

CUT, COLOR, & COPY WORKROOM
E-mail: cutcolorcopy@northernhillspto.net
Schedule: Cut Color Copy Volunteers

The Cut, Color, & Copy PALs (Parents Assisting Learning) assist in preparing classroom materials and projects for our teachers. This volunteer position offers one of the most flexible schedules of any PTO volunteer opportunity… You can literally set your own schedule. Shifts are 30 minutes to 2 hours, as you are able. You can choose morning or afternoon shifts every week, every other week, or once a month. With the flexible work schedule, this is a terrific position for many of our parents with younger students who might want to volunteer during school hours, but only have an hour or two to do so.

MEDIA CENTER
E-mail: mediacenter@northernhillspto.net
Schedule:
Media Center Volunteers

Media Center PALs assist our students in checking books in and out, restock library shelves, and help students with book selections. There will be two parent workers during each shift. Shifts are offered on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th weeks or 2nd and 4th weeks of the month. Morning shifts are from 8:30 – 11:30 and afternoon shifts from 12:00 – 3:00. This position is a lot of fun! Our parent volunteers have a great time interacting with the kids and hearing all their “tall tales” about the books they’ve picked out. It’s also a terrific way to meet other parents at the school. So get in on the fun and join us in the Media Center today! {Half shifts are available to our parents with Preschool & Kindergarten aged students who cannot cover a full shift due to pickup and drop off times. Please contact the Media Center Chairman if you are interested in a half shift}.

WELCOME CENTER
E-mail: welcomecenter@northernhillspto.net
Schedule: Welcome Center Volunteers

The Welcome Center is always looking for a friendly face to help with greeting all the students and visitors at our school. The Welcome Center PALs work alongside the office staff in checking students in and out of school. They also assist the office staff, administration, and Cut, Color, & Copy workers with tasks and special projects. This position allows our parents the wonderful opportunity to get to know the school’s secretaries and administrators better. Volunteers have the choice to work weekly, biweekly, or monthly. There are three different shifts available during the day… Morning (8:30 – 10:45) Lunch (10:45-1:00) and Afternoon (1:00-3:05). {Half shifts are also available to our parents with Preschool & Kindergarten aged students who are not able to cover a full shift due to pickup and drop off times. Please contact the Welcome Center Chairman if you are interested in a half shift}

LANDSCAPE & CAMPUS IMPROVEMENTS
E-mail: landscape@northernhillspto.net or campusimprovements@northernhillspto.net

If you love the outdoors and don’t mind getting a little bit of dirt on your dungarees, volunteer with the Landscape and Campus Improvements crew! There are a variety of jobs to do. In order to make these jobs more manageable, we have divided up the school grounds amongst all our committee members. Our workers help with weeding and trash control throughout the year… and then at our Fall and Spring work days – the whole school is asked to turn out and help with planting, trimming, mulching, painting, or any needed playground refurbishing. Aside from the specific campus work days, the volunteer schedule is flexible and can meet an individual’s needs. Please come join our crew and help keep our amazing grounds and campus looking its best!!

PUP PAL READERS
E-mail: puppalreaders@northernhillspto.net

As you can tell, Northern Hills provides its parents with many wonderful opportunities to contribute to our school as a whole, but the Pup Pal Readers program is one of the few that allows you to make a direct investment into an individual child. We are looking for volunteers who can spend 30 minutes once a week or every other week, reading with a student. There are no special skills required to become a part of this program… but there is a special payoff – building a child’s confidence. Our Pup Pals are students who just need that extra bit of encouragement to keep building their reading skills… and once they become stronger readers… we believe they’ll develop a love for reading! That is what this program is all about… All reading sessions are done during school hours according to your available schedule. While a majority of our readers come from our parents, we also love to have our grandparents and other community volunteers read with our delightful 1st, 2nd, & 3rd graders. If you would like to find out more about the Pup Pal Readers program, please just contact the Pup Pals Chairman or turn in a “Ticket for Time” to your child’s teacher.

SAFETY PATROL
E-mail: safetypatrol@northernhillspto.net
Schedule: Safety Patrol Teams

Safety patrol is a unique opportunity for 5th grade Husky Pups to contribute to their school. Being on safety patrol is an honor and also a lot of fun! Children act as ambassadors to represent the school, and they will be trained to perform specific duties both before and after school. Students are grouped into teams which serve several one-week shifts throughout the school year. They must be able to arrive at school by 8:00 and stay until 3:20.
